Mark your calendars — Give to the Max Day is November 19!
At Charities Review Council, we know you’re seriously invested in the causes you care about, and that every dollar matters to the nonprofits you so generously support. That’s why we work alongside donors (and nonprofits) every day, ensuring donors like you can feel confident when making a giving decision.
Give to the Max Day is no different! We’re here to help you prepare for this year’s giving holiday, but first, let’s talk Give to the Max Day: What is it? How can you participate? And more importantly, why should you participate? We’ve got answers to those questions and more below.
What is Give to the Max Day?
Give to the Max Day, hosted online at GiveMN.org, was created in 2009 and over the years has become Minnesota’s annual giving holiday, raising nearly $200 million in its first 11 years. Last year, Give to the Max Day raised $21.6 million for 5,610 organizations. That’s huge! Thousands of organizations and individuals generate donations and excitement for Minnesota causes that are working to improve the quality of life for all Minnesotans.
When is Give to the Max Day?
Give to the Max Day is all day, 24 hours on Thursday, November 19, 2020. But why wait! You can give as early as Sunday, November 1st. More on that in our next question.
Do I have to wait until November 19th to give?
Nope! Beat the rush and make your online gifts as early as November 1st for a chance to win prizes like a $500 Early Giving Golden Tickets or even a $10,000 Super-Sized Golden Ticket for your favorite organization! To learn more about early giving and the Give to the Max Day prize pool, click here.
How can I participate in Give to the Max Day?
Give to the Max Day works as an online give-a–thon where you can easily give to Minnesota nonprofits and schools through GiveMN.org.
Before you give, check out Charities Review Council’s list of Meets Standards® Nonprofits. Organizations included on this list have taken steps to align their internal policies and procedures to widely-accepted standards showcasing nonprofit accountability and strength. These are nonprofits that you can trust and feel confident investing in.
You can also be a virtual supporter by sharing your passion for the cause on your own social media profiles. Be sure to include this year’s hashtag (#GTMD20) and the organization’s social media handle.
Why should I participate?
Give to the Max Day is a fun and easy way to support nonprofits during this difficult time.
“Give to the Max takes on new meaning in 2020 as Minnesota’s giving holiday,” said Jake Blumberg, executive director of GiveMN. “All year long, donors have given to support nonprofits and schools adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic and leading the charge on racial justice, and we hope to help spark even more generosity as we head into the all-important end-of-year fundraising time for organizations across our state.”
